So far, ordinary time has not been ordinary at all, but that’s usually true in my life anyway. My spirituality is anything but ordinary, and I have this uncanny ability to do absolutely everything the wrong way, and yet it seems that for me and my relationship with Jesus, the order of things is the correct order for me.
Sometimes it feels like I found Jesus almost by accident. If I had been one of the magi who followed the star to find Jesus, I think I would have gotten lost. I’m pretty good at getting lost in most places, and I’m also an expert in doing things the wrong way, the long way,Continue reading “living liturgically (season one, episode nine, epiphany 2022)”
The King James Version and the New King James Version of the Bible aren’t welcome at my house. I did feel a sense of guilt the day I opened my trash can on the curb, and threw in three King Jimmy’s. They were Bibles, after all, and I knew I probably shouldn’t do that withContinue reading “my rocky relationship with the bible (part two)”
I saw a meme on Facebook the other day that, in speaking of the wise men, said “once we meet Jesus, we all go home by another way.” It was quite profound to me then as it is now. Epiphany reminds me of the concept of seeking and finding. I grew up being told aboutContinue reading “living liturgically (season one, episode eight, epiphany 2022)”

Mary has been an excellent mother to us and most of us are glad to have her. So, hereContinue reading “sackcloth and ashes”
The gold was to recognize that the toddler was a king, the frankincense to recognize his deity, and myrrh symbolizing his death. That’s why they didn’t bring Pampers, they were focused on the future.
I know what it’s like to get sucked into something deep and evil, and to not be able to get myself out. This is why Jesus came! To deliver Israel from their sins, to deliver me from mine, to deliver the world from theirs.
The Book of Common Prayer has a liturgy for morning prayer which I like, but this is a morning offering I have put together, which is much shorter (which isn’t the point here), and it’s about committing myself to God each day. I’m sharing it on the first day of the year in case aContinue reading “morning offering”
arned to read at four years old using a set of home made flash cards and a King Jimmy. My younger sisters also learned to read with the King James Bible, but not until they were older than that. My father would proudly tell people that all his kids needed to learn to read was a King James Bible…
